On the Water

Balboa Yacht Club embraces its competitive racing heritage. Whether it’s large boats or small boats, local to the bay or crossing oceans, we’re serious about racing. Our members have sailed in the America’s Cup, the Olympics, and Transpac. Not to mention our own club-sponsored regattas: Sunkist, BeerCans, Twilights, Long Point, and more. BYC is the host-club for the Governor’s Cup, the oldest and most prestigious youth match racing regatta in the world. In 2017, the Club also hosted the World Sailing Youth Match Racing Worlds and in 2018, the Inter-collegiate Sailing Association’s Match Racing Championships. BYC was also host club for US Sailing’s Champion of Champions in 2020 and the Senior Sabot Nationals in 2022. The Club looks forward to co-hosting the National Sailing Hall of Fame induction ceremony in late 2023.
